Each Tap size is suited for British Tapered pipe fitting like Hydraulic joiners and hose fittings
BSP (British Standard Pipe) and BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) are two related standards for pipe fittings and connectors, primarily used in the United Kingdom and other countries influenced by British engineering standards. The main difference between BSP and BSPT lies in their thread types:
-
BSP (British Standard Pipe):
- BSP refers to straight threads, also known as parallel threads.
- These threads do not taper and maintain the same diameter throughout the length of the thread.
- BSP threads are used with sealing washers or o-rings to create a seal, as they do not inherently provide a tight seal on their own.
-
BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper):
- BSPT refers to tapered threads.
- These threads gradually taper along their length, providing a tighter seal as they are screwed into a fitting.
- BSPT threads rely on the taper and the engagement of the male and female threads to create a seal without the need for additional sealing components like washers or o-rings.
EACH TAP IS MADE FROM CARBON STEEL SPECIALLY MADE FOR OUR COMPANY TO ISO STANDARDS
Please note! These Taps are best used on Brass Aluminium Mild steels, for harder steel lake 10-40 or Stainless Steels we recommend HSS Taps and Dies
We stock may different BSPT Tap and Die sizes be sure to checkout our store if you require Dies, Tap Sets or Tap & Die combinations to help you save.
